CENTRAL AMERICA + NORTH AMERICA
WHO IS LIZ
Liz Furlong, Central + North America
Canadian born Liz Furlong, who has been living in Costa Rica for the past SEVEN years, has quietly become one of Central America’s most prominent mixologists, experimenting with local botanicals and fermented juices she embraced the fertile surroundings, often foraging for cocktail ingredients, or as she calls it, “jungle bartending.” Her roots and training came from working and staging primarily in Toronto, Montreal & New York, among a few other destinations.
A New Challenge
In 2012 Liz moved to Costa Rica for a three month consulting job, and once that time was up, she had a hard time heading back home to New York City for the winter. She began learning Spanish, exploring the country and studying local fruits and herbs and experimenting with ingredients in new ways. She opened restaurants, developing concepts and organizes events all over the continent.
Bebedero & Beyond
Liz opened her hidden speakeasy, Bebedero, in the interior of the historic Steinvorth building downtown Costa Rica in 2017. Bebedero is a cocktail bar focused on tropical ingredients and traditional herbal remedies. It has been written up in several articles including the New York Times.
Liz continues to consult and project manages for clients around Central and North America and is available for events and special projects.
